  • We enjoyed our time in Vinales thoroughly, mainly due to the friendly welcome and help of Ony and Luis. We were met from the bus and walked the short distance to the quiet area where the house overlooked fields. Ony organised good bikes at a cheap rate for us and could suggest places to go and things to do. The balcony and roof terrace were great places to relax and it was nice to be in a quiet street, even though it was so close to central Vinales. How was the food? by Sarah Hinton (Stayed on Feb 22, 2017)

Ony provided a lovely evening meal and the breakfasts were great, especially when Luis was cooking. Pancakes and excellent 'pain perdu' were delicious additions to the large plates of fruit, meats and cheese. How was the room?
The room was spacious, quiet and very clean with a modern bathroom and shower. We appreciated having our own entrance and terrace outside. Other Comments
Ony and Luis were very friendly and helpful hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. Luis even cooked us a breakfast pre dawn as we had an early bus to catch. It was one of our favourite places to stay in Cuba and we would recommend it greatly.

  • Home away from home! Outstanding Cuban hospitality! by Lucy (Stayed on Jan 11, 2015)

Being our very first Casa Particular, we weren't overly sure what to expect, but Ony & Luis';s welcoming hospitality made us feel right at home. We stayed for two nights and could easily have stayed for longer, Vinales is definitely a quieter pace of life in comparison to Old Havana and definitely worth adding to your travel itinerary. A 5 minute walk from the main street, walking alongside the countryside, you are more than welcomed by the locals, as people call out to you in welcome greeting. The house is clean, tidy and well presented, with a rooftop terrace that has views over Vinales. Sitting on either the front porch or rooftop terrace allows you a good insight into everyday Cuban life, as the bikes and horses nad carts make their way to and from work along the dirt road. It makes for a perfect spot for stargazing at night! The front of the house has been seperated, so you have your own living area, bathroom and room with two double beds (there is air conditioning or open windows which let the breeze blow through). As there are two double beds in the bedroom, there isn't a lot of extra space for luggage, but with two of us, we managed (but we only had backpacks). There is a lounge suite, dining table, bar and fridge that has water and drinks for purchase. Ask for one of Ony's famous mojitos....you won't regret it and will definitely want another! Luis works at the local hotel and is the #1 chef in town, his dinner and breakfasts were outstanding and very good value for money (he proves that not all Cuban food is bland!), make sure you have dinner! Luis organised a car tour through Vinales via Eddy (great tour guide with good english) in an old American car, with highlights around the local town and a local tobacco farm (NOT frequented by bus loads of tourists). Options of returning to Old Havana include the bus (book your ticket the day before, otherwsie you go on a waiting list which does not guarantee you a seat), taxi collectivo, or ride back in an old American car (definitely worth the money for the experience!) Overall our trip to Vinales and stay at Ony & Luis' Casa was a highlight of our two week trip to Cuba, Ony and Luis were fabulous and very welcoming hosts. You won't regret staying there!

  • Casa Luiz y Ony by Jir Kopka (Stayed on Apr 08, 2013)

We were very happy with the entire stay. Owners are very pleasant people, the place is spotless clean and location of the casa is just short walk from the town centre in a quiet area. How was the food?
Excellent and plenty. How was the room?
    clean, quiet, comfortable. Other Comments
We can fully recommend the place to other travellers.

  • Comfortable casa, LOVELY family and good food! by Stathis

My family (consisting of my husband, one year old baby, our little dog and myself) stayed at this casa for two nights and in that little time, we managed to really connect with this lovely family. Ony and Luis are genuinely nice and hardworking people and their boys so well-behaved and polite. The casa is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Vinales and the atmosphere in the casa is very peaceful and rural. We spent many hours sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch watching cows, horses and hens pass by on the road infront of the casa, whilst the kids from the neighbourhood played baseball. In our 16 day stay in Cuba, this is definitely the closest we got to living the real Cuba! Both breakfast and dinner were tasty and generous and Ony & Luis give their guests sole use of the front of their house so we had our own living/dining room with fridge, bedroom and bathroom! All rooms were spotlessly clean and you could tell that much effort had gone into the decorating and furnishing. All-in-all, a memorably stay at Casa Ony y Luis and would thoroughly recommend, especially for families.
