  • Great hosts, clean rooms and delicious food! by Sheryl

Mariela and Lorenzo run a tight operation and were very helpful during our short stay in Trinidad. Although we didn't speak any Spanish and Mariela did not speak English, we did not have trouble communicating because Mariela is so patient and makes a great effort to make sure that we understand her. She handed us a map of Trinidad the minute we got there and helped us to arrange for transportation to and from Playa Ancon, and also back to Havana. The rooms and bathroom are clean and comfortable - our bathrooms were cleaned daily and we got fresh towels. The downstairs bedroom is right on the street and gets a little noisy, but once we closed the windows and turned on the air-conditioning, it was okay. We could make use of the many common spaces in the house - be it reading in one of the rocking chairs in the living room or playing cards on the roof terrace. Hostal Rintintin is located on a hill (hence great views) and on a main thoroughfare. Key attractions (Plaza Mayor, Club Ayala, etc) were less than a five minute walk away. The best thing was the food! We can honestly say that the food at Rintintin was the best among all the casas we stayed at during our trip. We ate there on both nights during our stay. It was great to eat up on the roof terrace, with a great band to serenade you as you eat. I would certainly recommend Hostal Rintintin to anyone who visits Trinidad!
