  • La mejor casa particular en Cuba by Jennifer (Stayed on Mar 01, 2016)

  • Nice comfortable stay by Michelle (Stayed on Mar 17, 2016)

Casa de Santos was located a bit far from Varadero and most people had trouble finding it, including our driver from the airport and our diving instructor who came to pick us up. It was a fair bit of a walk to get to Varadero, and there's not much in the area in terms of restaurants and bars, but the casa itself is very nice. It is quite new and Irenia and her husband were very kind. How was the food?
Very good. Irenia's husband makes a nice pasta. He cooked a very good lobster and fish as well. How was the room?
Clean, comfortable, a little on the small side, but very nice overall.

  • Good cheaper option Varadero by Mark and Olga (Stayed on Dec 13, 2015)

We had a great stay at this casa. Irenia is a great English-speaking host. She picked us up from the bus station, provided breakfast every day and showed us how to get around. We found this casa because all the casas in Varadero charged 35CUC/night so we were looking for something less expensive. This casa is in Santa Marta, which is very close to Varadero. It's walkable but Irenia can explain how to use the local trucks, which are cheap, quick and a fun way to see a bit of the Cuban life. How was the food?
The breakfast was good. You can say all your preferences and Irenia will take them into account. Her husband is an Italian chef so having dinner was a great change after all the Cuban cuisine. How was the room?
Good. All the facilities we needed were there. Other Comments
Irenia also went to the bus station for us to buy onward tickets, which was really nice of her because the bus was almost full. And she showed us around at the radio station she works at to give is an insight in the working life of Cubans.
