  • A Hidden Gem in Havana by Mercy MacDowell (Stayed on Jan 04, 2018)

Casa Romero is an updated 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment that is vibrant and offers a large balcony overlooking the famous Capitolio. My jaw dropped when I walked into the apartment because it is brand new with a modern decor surrounded with the integrity of the old architectural features (cuban tiles, large wood balconies). The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms are completely updated and new. However, when the owners prepared breakfast the next day.... I didn't want to leave! It was the best breakfast we had during our time in Cuba and exceeded the quality of a 5-star hotel. The owners are very kind, and will take care of all your tourism needs. They do not live in the apartment so there is plenty of space and privacy in the evenings as well as no curfew. This was my second time in Cuba and the first time I stayed in a 4 store hotel $$$$ and it had a rug and it had not been replaced in years along with a musty smell. This time I decided to save money and give Casa Romero a chance. This is why my post is called "A Hidden Gem" because it is a well-kept secret of a place that can easily compete with any 4 star establishment. Yanet and her family will make your stay unforgettable and you will not regret your stay!
