  • Casa Azul – Marietta + Pavel La Habana by Andre Christian (Stayed on May 01, 2013)

  • Casa Marieta & Pavel – Havana by Siobhan (Stayed on Apr 02, 2013)

We stayed with Marieta & Pavel in Havana Centro for two nights. The room was clean and fine. As the building is situated on a street corner there is a nice balcony which overlooks the street, and means you can watch the passing activity. But the street can be noisy, and therefore we found the room quite noisy into the night. We had arranged to return to the casa for our last night after travels elsewhere in Cuba, and even rang to confirm this, but when we arrived the room was taken and we were put in a different casa down the road. How was the food?
We only had breakfast on our first morning there. The food was nice and the coffee was good. How was the room?
Clean and comfortable, but noisy. Access is through the house. Other Comments
The main disappointment was that having confirmed our return to the casa, we were then told upon arrival that the room was taken. They did arrange for us to stay elsewhere, but that was not what we had agreed and confirmed in advance.

After a few days started to itch and have many spots found very small bed lice/bugs in mattress complained to owners who moved me to another room, had to visit doctor for treatment, which cost me pesos,in the end i returned home early because of the itching and lack of sleep.Owners very nice but never again thankyou, it will be hotels How was the food?
very good. How was the room?
    average. Other Comments
area very noisy dogs barking early hours.

Management response from : Marieta : Owner : Sorry hear about this, first time we have a client that complain about bugs in our beds, any way what we did to avoid future problems was that we burned the matrix and now we have new ones with excellent conditions for our clients. We invite to all clients visit us and realize of this. Regards Marieta.

  • Casa Marieta y Pavel by David

Nice Casa in Havana Viejo. Good reception, nice room with a balcony. Breakfast ready for us every morning. A great place to explore off the beaten tourist path. How was the food?
Food was delicious. But for the four mornings it was always the same. A bit of variety would have been nice event just the eggs. The Guava smoothy was delicious. How was the room?
The room was clean and kept clean through our stay. Bathroom was also clean. The balcony from our room gave us a nice view of the cuban life for the people in Havana Viejo (old Havana) Other Comments
Check the price of Breakfast first. At 4CUC its a bit high. 3CUC would have been more acceptable. Also take the time to go in the streets and savour the food. There are lots of window or doors that you can buy coffee and sandwich for your breakfast and walking the Old Havana is quite nice. You can get street food for really cheap. 2 coffee for 2 pesos. A nice Casa that allowed us to walk around the tourist area and come back to a more quiet cuban life for our rest. Also be cautious with some of the locals. they will try to get a few CUC out of you. the bar across the street is a rip off, so ask the price prior to taking a drink. It should be half a CUC max but he charged us 4CUC. I paid and we never return.
