  • Perfect Start by Sophie (Stayed on Nov 14, 2016)

The casa particular of Lourdes and Leo was the perfect start for my second Cuba trip. As a lot of things went wrong before my departure and I booked on very short noticed, I arrived quited stressed and insecure, but it took only a few minutes talking with Lourdes until I felt perfectly calm and in the right place. Lourdes is a warm and welcoming host who offers not only accomodation but further more a lot of valuable information. She told me how to get cheap transportation to Varadero and Matanzas and gave a lot of advices concerning restaurants and excursions as well as general advice about traveling in Cuba and Cuban culture and costums. I can very much recommend this casa particular as a starting point for your trip, because Lourdes will give you the best introduction into Cuban life! I also enjoyed talking with her family and neighbours, all very nice and friendly people with interesting stories to tell. I felt like she adopted me. Lourdes was more than a host. She became an actual friend in a very short time and I was really sad when I had to leave. For a person traveling alone like me, Boca de Camarioca is not the best place to be because there is really not much going on. But I think it is perfect for couples and families, because it is much calmer than Varadero. There is also a small beach about 5 minutes from the house. How was the food?
The food was excellent. Lourdes told me that she used to be a teacher, but my guess would be that she has been a chef. She offers much more than the regular meat and rice dishes, makes a considerable effort to come up with quite original three course meals and a big, big, big breakfast. That breakfast was definitely the best I had during my whole trip . How was the room?
The casa offers a completely independent apartment with salon, bedroom, bathroom and even a small kitchen. You have your own entrance and therefore a lot of privacy. Right now Lourdes and Leo are working on another house in their backyard, that will also be used as a casa particular and be completely independent from the main house. The garden where I had breakfast and dinner is very beautiful. I enjoyed sitting there very much, chatting with the people of the house. Other Comments
Since the house is close to the river, there are moscitos but Lourdes makes sure they stay outside. For sitting on the nice porch though you should come prepared with anti moscito spray..

  • Appartment near varadero by Andreas (Stayed on Aug 09, 2016)

Appartment with two rooms, small kitchen and small bathroom. How was the food?
We had just breakfast and its was good, Lourdes gave us some advices for the town, which were okay, but in varadero are very good restaurants. How was the room?
Clean an there where towels for the beach too. Other Comments
Don`t expect a spacious garden ore something like this, it is an appartment in a town.

  • Perfect Cubain Stay! by Lara Bahls (Stayed on Mar 14, 2016)

We passed a perfect stay at the casa of Lourdes and Leo! They were the first casa in Cuba and gave us a lot of helpful information. The casa is in the center of the little town Boca de Camarioca. From here it is only 10 minutes by bus to Varadero. Also in Boca there are lovely beaches just a few minutes walk away. Boca de Camarioca gives the perfect insight to the small cubain life. The people are all very friendly and open-minded. Leo and Lourdes are great hosts who help whenever they can! How was the food?
Lourdes made us the best breakfast (juice, eggs, bread, coffee, milk, tea..) and dinner over our whole stay of 2 months in Cuba! She is an awesome cook! How was the room?
The appartement includes a dining room, bedroom, own kitchen an a nice terrace. The bedroom is simple but cleaned everyday! The private terrace is a nice spot for the evenings to get an insight of the cubain outside life. Other Comments
Leo and Lourdes were our first and last stay in Cuba. They welcomed us with open arms and were so helpful! Thank you very much! One day, we will be back!

  • A terrific casa located close to the quaint beach in Boca de Camarioca. Our host was fantastic and extremely helpful with all of our needs. The central town and beautiful beaches of Varadero is only a 10 minute bus ride (catch bus 224, $1CUC per person) or a short taxi ride ($10CUC). How was the food? by Alana Salmon (Stayed on Mar 01, 2016)

The best breakfast we have had out of all the casas we have stayed at in Cuba! How was the room?
The room was spacious and very clean.

  • Great Stay, Great People, Great Food! by Michelle Sims (Stayed on Jan 20, 2016)

Lourdes and Leo's Casa was the first place we stayed in Cuba. Initially we weren't too happy to discover how far from Varadero we were, but it turns out we chose the best place to stay with Lourdes and Leo. They are really lovely people and were super helpful in planning our trip around Cuba. This really made our whole trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Lourdes was always making sure we were taken care of. The location is actually great because we could visit about more around, such as Matanzes. Staying here gave us a truly authentic experience of cuban life (away from the tourists!), after visiting Varadero were felt very pleased with our choice in accommodation. Though if you want to visit its just a short taxi ride away or you can catch the bus. Its very easy getting to and from the casa. How was the food?
Lourdes home cooking was just awesome, some of the best we experienced during our 4 week stay in Cuba, in fact we missed it once we left. She always made so much food too. How was the room?
The rooms were simple but very comfortable and very clean! Other Comments
Lourdes was like our 'cuban mama', it was wonderful to feel taken care of. We highly recommend it! Thanks Lourdes and Leo! From Michelle, Brandon and Omali.
