Alain Pérez is one of the most prominent figures in the Cuban contemporary music scene. This renowned musician, singer, composer and producer was born in Trinidad and has had the joy of working with dissimilar musicians in Cuba and around the world. A list that highlights, undoubtedly, world class exponents such as Chucho Valdés, Juan Formel, Celia Cruz and the genius of flamenco Paco de Lucia.

Trinidad, current province of Sancti Spíritus, in the Center of the Island of Cuba was the third Villa founded by the Spanish Crown. The establishment of the then Villa de la Santísima Trinidad dates from the early 1514, and was attended by the Adelantado Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, the first governor of Cuba.

Trinidad evolved rapidly, becoming one of the most prosperous locations in the Greater of the Antilles, a situation that continues to this day, based on, above all, the preservation of its colonial structures that make it a heritage city of excellence.

The prominent Cuban musician was born in this city in 1977 and grew up in the town of Manaca Iznaga. From an early age he showed signs of his musical ability, especially cultivated by his father, Gradelio Pérez, who encouraged him to continue studying music and who eventually became his lyricist.

In Trinidad the punto guajiro, the guaracha and the son were inoculated into the veins of that child whose musical talent began to be tempered in that “familiar, homely, festive, humble, but always honest” environment, within which he lived.

Alain was trained in the Cuban art school system and upon arriving to Havana to attend the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA), he consolidated himself as one of the most talented musicians of the moment.

This Cuban, who carries his genesis with pride, is a faithful defender of Cuban music and understands that, for what he has lived, he cannot betray the most authentic roots of our culture.

He is a musician with a unique track record, fruit of having lived with music on his back. From Manaca he went to Havana, from Havana he went to Madrid and from the Spanish capital he has returned to pour all his energy in favor of our music.

“From one destination to another I have grown. I became a man from Manaca to Havana, I moved to Madrid and, back in Havana, I managed to make my way to defend with all certainty, my way of feeling music “.
