  • Gp to Bayamo by Verena (Stayed on Mar 01, 2014)

Bayamo was actually a pleasant surprise during our trip - very nice town with hardly any tourists. Therefore the choice of casas is also certainly smaller than elsewhere. This casa was a very good choice though. We had a very nice room on the second floor with its own large roofterrace with deckchairs and rocking chairs. You have to go up very narrow construction stairs at the moment given that they are building a new house next door. That was slightly inconvenient but they had a young guy who carried the luggage up and down for us so that wasn't much of an issue. The room was somewhat smaller than those that we had elsewhere but it was very bright which was a clear upside. Had a TV, aircon and a fridge which was also good. Bathroom was clean but a bit small. The shower was very strange as the shower head was attached to electricity to heat up the water.... We spent most time on the terrace anyway so we didn't care that the room was small. Car was parked at the garage of a neighbour across the street. It's a short walk to the city centre and the train station. I saw a couple of complaints about the road - it didn't disturb us to be honest. It's Cuba, it's not like there are massive amounts of cars. Especially later in the day I mostly saw bikes... The food was good but I had expected more on the basis of what I had read in our guidebook where the food came highly recommended. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • Very friendly by Eva Petersen

Sr Arturo is very helpfull in any way. He also draw a map for us to find Santo Domingo on our further trip to Serra Maestra. How was the food?
Breakfast one of the better ones. How was the room?
    standard.

  • Directly at a main street by Claudia

The casa is located directly at a main street and therefore it's very loud. In addition, Arturo watches all the time quite loud television, which can be easily heard in the room above (where we were). Arturo and Esmeralda do not really care about their guests. They didn't show us first their home and I had to ask for the terrace as they did not offer it for us to use. It seems they prefer you are only there for the night and otherwise out of the house. They also did not want to cook dinner for us, but recommended a restaurant in town. How was the food?
The breakfast was excellent. For dinner they reommended us a restaurant in town. How was the room?
Quite noisy as it is situated directly at a main street. In addition, the television from downstairs can be heard, which is also quite loud and all the time on. Other Comments
I can not recommend this casa. The best thing is just to stop shortly in Bayamo to see the main street with the sculptures from the artists school and to drive directly furthly on to Santiago de Cuba.

  • Great casa, friendly owners by Ted

We had a very good stay here. Arturo was a wealth of information and spoke excellent english. Room was small but clean and has a small minifridge stocked with cold drinks. Close to downtown and Arturo is a graet cook. How was the food?
Excellent breakfast except the 'sausage' in the omellette was more like hot dog, just order it without sausage... How was the room?
Clean and nice but a bit noisy early in the morning. Ask for the room away from the front. Other Comments
    Excellent hosts! Car park available.
