  • Our great stay with Nelly and Armando by Elke and Mauro (Stayed on Nov 14, 2017)

We had a great time at Villa Nelly. We highly remmomend this casa. Nelly and Armando are lovely persons and perfect hosts. The room was clean and breakfast in the garden was really nice. We really felt as part of this family and no matter how late we came back to the casa in the evening - Nelly did always open the door with a smile.

  • Perfectly located in Punta Gorda by Marina (Stayed on Nov 04, 2015)

Villa Nelly is just a couple of blocks away from the Transtur bus stop at Hotel Jagua which makes this location incredibly convenient. The back patio has a festive bar area and views of the sea. Walking into the City center is a lengthy but doable walk but if you aren't up to it, there are many bici-taxi's travelling the Malecon in front of Villa Nelly. How was the food?
Food was excellent. The fresh fruit (guava, Mango and Papaya) and the juices stand out in my mind as a real treat. How was the room?
The room had a private bathroom and access to a kitchen area. The room was clean. Other Comments
I appreciated that Nelly called the casa where we were staying prior to arriving at Casa Nelly to reconfirm our arrival details. I know that booking though BBInnVinales requests that you reconfirm with the Casas a couple of days prior but we had no access to phone.

  • Garden of Eden in Punta Gorda by Janice Tanner

I took my parents, in their 80's now, on a trip to Cuba which we will never forget. One of the highlights was our stay at Villa Nelly just outside the town of Cienfuegos in Punta Gorda. Nelly and Armando welcomed us into their home and made us feel like family. We especially loved the two rooftop terraces with sea views, shaded with plants and made comfortable with chairs and tables. We dined al fresco each morning and evening under the mango trees, and the food Nelly prepared was outstanding - some of the best we had in Cuba. It was a comfortable 1 km walk along the malecon into the town centre. How was the food?
Excellent - breakfast was plates of fresh tropical fruit, fresh juice, wonderful coffee and eggs prepared any way you want. Dinners were the best we had - the tantalizing smells from her kitchen had our mouths watering by the time dinner was served. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed sitting outdoors in the beautiful courtyard for our meals. How was the room?
The back room is the best one, which opens into the courtyard, not so noisy at night, and has a little kitchenette attached. Everything was kept immaculately clean in Nelly's house. Other Comments
We had no desire to go out at night, as we enjoyed sitting around drinking Nelly's excellent Mohitos (she has a secret recipe passed on from Hemingway's bartender) and listening to Armando's stories. It helps if you speak some spanish, to fully enjoy the experience of staying with a Cuban family like this.
