  • Fondest memories by Mariska (Stayed on Feb 25, 2017)

Of all the casas we resided in during a three week biking trip, my fondest memories go back to our stay with Cary and Toni in Puerto Esperanza. There was the warm welcome and amiablity and helpfullness of Toni and Cary, my handwashed clothes that Cary insisted on putting in her spin dryer so they would dry faster; there was the elaborate dinner that Cary cooked with great care and concern for me as a vegetarian (the best meal of my travels in Cuba), but on top of that there was something special about Cary. We sat down and chatted and it felt as if we had been friends for a long time. Of course, that could be a personal connection between two people, but Cary has a real warm authenticity about her. I would go back just to spend some more time with Cary and Toni in their casa. How was the food?
Best meal for a vegetarian. How was the room?
    Nice, with a traditional thatched roof/ceiling .

  • Happily smiling in Puerto Esperanza by Darren Zagrodney (Stayed on Mar 17, 2015)

Cary and Toni run a fabulous casa. They provided us with ideas of excursions, access to rides, tours, and great conversat ion being patient with our beginner-intermediate Spanish skills. Cary even let us join her in the kitchen to learn where and how all the magic happened. They were very good at bringing us into their family as much as we wanted yet allowing us our space and independance when this is what we preferred. How was the food?
The food was fantastic. We had the option to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at our casa as we wished. We are vegetarains and loved the wide range of meals they cooked for us. Of course they offered to prepare seafood and meat too. How was the room?
The room was nice and cool with two fans and windows that opened on three different walls. We felt that our belongings were very safe and secure. Other Comments
We would like to return again.

  • Very nice helpful family. The room was adequate except for the numerous mosquitoes (no screens and a large pool of water outside). The dining area was nice. How was the food? by Candace Christensen
